Overview

The Senior HR Generalist supports Advantage Care Health Center, an organization which operates in a community-based healthcare agency environment.  The Senior HR Generalist responds to all employee inquiries by referencing the handbook and other available resources and escalates as necessary. Serves as Advantage Care’s employee relations representative and engages with employees and supervisors regularly to learn of and address any potential concerns and employee related workplace investigations. This position is responsible for sourcing the best candidates for current and future employment vacancies, with an end goal of retaining high quality talent; Performs onboarding tasks to ensure a positive acclimation period for new hires. This position also conducts annual DOH training, compliance training, incidents/POCA for the health center, and may conduct training on various non-medical/health topics. Tracks HR compliance for employees including: annual performance reviews, handbook acknowledgements, code of conduct, etc. Performs other related duties and participates in strategic planning, DEI and other workplace initiatives as assigned.

Responsibilities

  1. Coordinates iCIMS hiring process. Responsible for maintenance/accuracy of all job descriptions in iCIMS through consultation/discussion with administration, and supervisors. Responsible for posting of positions, tracking “published” positions and candidates who apply, to see that notes and dispositions are entered and continuously updated/finalized. 

 

  1. Coordinates the recruitment process for all positions, including review of all initial candidate assessments, interviews, and coordination of job offers. Maintains Health Center website information and shared social media calendar pertaining to recruitment, job fairs, all other upcoming recruitment events, and works with Outreach Coordinator. Manages and facilitates open house events. Prepares and processes weekly comprehensive reports from recruitment database to provide executive leadership with relevant data pertaining to recruitment. Analyzes ad organic vs. sponsored ads. Works with HRSA workforce connector (update HRSA website) and NHSC updates.

 

  1. Counsels employees on career development and growth.

 

  1. Coordinates and maintains relationships with third party recruitment agencies and staffing firms and assists with related administrative tasks. Reviews schedules with respective programs and recruits for temp staff as needed and contracts with temp agencies.

 

  1. Performs onboarding tasks, including all new hire paperwork, and ensures a positive experience for new hires during their acclimation period.

 

  1. Coordinates agency/mandatory DOH and HRSA training to include medical and non-medical topics, as well as Annual training, New Hire Orientation, Diversity, Computer, FTCA requirements, other related courses, etc.  May participate in identifying training needs for employees.

 

  1. Manages new hires, final employment recommendations, offer letters, and change of status (COS) forms for transfers, promotions, compensation changes and separations, etc.

 

  1. Manages and resolves employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations. Collaborates with AHRC HR to complete exit interviews upon separation, as well as stay interviews upon request.

 

  1. Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to program management (e.g., subordinate counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).

 

  1. Works closely with management and employees to inform, build trust, boost employee engagement, drive performance and retain talent. Communication strategies will include on-site visits at both locations, support sessions, coaching, Teams meetings and monthly employee newsletter.

 

  1. Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation. Consults with AHRC HR, as necessary.

 

  1. Participates in Employee and Management Meetings upon request. Participates in other related special projects, committees, or assignments as requested by management and leadership. Conducts weekly meetings with organizational leadership and consults with organization’s management, providing HR guidance, when appropriate.

 

  1. Tracks HR compliance for employees including annual performance reviews, handbook acknowledgements, code of conduct, etc. Performs credentialing-related duties, serving as liaison for the AHRC HR Compliance/Credentialing Manager and participating on the Credentialing Committee.

 

  1. Performs accurate and timely payroll responses to employee inquiries, onboarding paperwork, and other duties as assigned.

 

  1. Tracks mandated DOH Medical requirements/documentation.

 

  1. Assists Directors with Corporate Compliance and Safety Campaigns.

 

  1. Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the AHRC HR group to develop solutions, programs, and policies.

 

  1. Participates in meetings with AHRC Nassau's Human Resources Leadership & Management teams as necessary.

 

  1. Participates in CHCANYS HR PEER workgroup and all recruitment and retention initiatives.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required in Human Resources or related field required with a Master’s Degree strongly preferred; four to six years of previous HR experience required at a similar level.  Working knowledge of HR disciplines, including recruiting strategies, employee relations, federal/state employment laws, compensation practices, diversity performance management, training and organizational assessment and evaluation.  Experience in healthcare HR strongly preferred. Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills required. Demonstrated competency in intermediate to advanced level proficiency in all Microsoft Suite applications, including HR Databases.  SHRM Certified  Professional  (SHRM-CP)  or SHRM  Senior Certified  Professional   (SHRM­ SCP) credential  or ability to obtain  certification  within one year of employment  strongly preferred.
